In the heart of Turkish bathing culture lies the 'kese'—an exfoliating mitt integral to the hamam experience. Our kese are meticulously crafted by the last family in Türkiye still weaving this unique material on traditional looms. Each mitt is made from natural fibers such as tree bark, goat hair, silk, wool, or a combination of these, ensuring an effective and authentic exfoliation.
Unlike synthetic, machine-made alternatives that often glide over the skin with little impact, our kese provide a deep cleanse, sloughing off dead skin cells to reveal a refreshed and revitalized complexion. The result is a satisfying exfoliation, reminiscent of the thorough cleanse achieved in a traditional hamam.
Regular use of a kese offers numerous benefits, including improved circulation, promotion of healthy new skin cells, removal of toxins, enhanced skin elasticity, and a healthier-looking complexion.
Regular use of our natural fibre kese offers numerous skin health benefits:
Removes Dead Skin Cells: Encourages the growth of new, healthy skin cells.
Opens Pores: Effectively removes sweat, dirt, and excess oils.
Prevents Skin Issues: Discourages the formation of pimples, blackheads, and cysts.
Reduces Cellulite: Helps diminish cellulite and prevent further buildup.
Prevents Age Spots: Contributes to maintaining an even skin tone.
Smooths and Softens Skin: Leaves skin feeling clean, smooth, and soft.
Improves Circulation: Enhances blood flow, promoting youthful and healthy skin.
Energizes the Body: Provides an invigorating and refreshing experience.
Usage:
Preparation: Spend 5–10 minutes in a hot, steamy environment to prepare your skin. The longer you stay, the easier it is to remove dead skin cells.
Wet Both Skin and Kese: Ensure your body and the kese are completely wet with hot water. Avoid using soap during exfoliation.
Exfoliation Process: Insert your hand into the kese and use long, slow strokes up and down with comfortable pressure. Focus on one area at a time, performing 10–20 strokes back and forth until the dead skin starts to 'roll' off. This will be most apparent in areas of the skin that have little or no hair. These bits of skin can look very dark in color—this is completely normal.
Rinse: After exfoliating your entire body, rinse thoroughly with water to remove all dead skin particles before using any soap.Frequency: Use your kese once every 7–15 days; avoid overuse.
Care:
After each use, rinse your kese with very hot water and hang it up to dry completely. Do not machine-wash or use detergents, as this can reduce its lifespan. For best health practices, sharing kese is not recommended. With proper care, depending on the fibers used, your kese should last between 3–7 years.
